Digital Forensics Association

Research

Research opportunities exist for practitioners to advance the knowledge of the entire community.  DFA will be seeking out those who want to participate in three broad categories initially, but members can suggest alternative topics as well.

The main topics are:

Process - documenting processes for each step of an investigation.

Standards - documenting agreed upon best practices.

Tools - developing new tools to aid practitioners.

DFA would like to start developing a Common Body of Knowledge for digital forensics.  Once that is completed, coursework to teach each module will be developed and made available.

The DFA is seeking to build partnerships with government, law enforcement and industry for grants and other resources for funding research where possible.  Suggestions by membership are always welcome, as are participants in application for grants, etc.

DFA will be seeking volunteers to lead each topic for research.  Leaders will be in charge of setting direction, delegation, project management and funding.  Leaders must be members in good standing, and are nominated by chapter officers.
